Salary Level: A$69,853- A$74,715 per year (plus 9% employer superannuation and leave loading)
 
 
The School is one of the largest computing schools in Australia. It offers undergraduate programs in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science and Bioinformatics, as well as a number of combined degrees with other disciplines. It attracts excellent students who have an outstanding record in international competitions. At the postgraduate level there is a large PhD research program and course work programs at the Master's and Graduate Diploma level in Computing and Information Technology and at Graduate Certificate level in Computing.

The position is associated with an Australian Research Council Discovery Grant funded project, "Political Institutions, War, and Peace: Global and Regional Dynamics". The research will involve development and application of advanced machine learning approaches to the study of international and internal conflict and their integration with qualitative and econometric analysis, in collaboration between a computer scientist, Professor Arcot Sowmya (UNSW), and a political scientist, Dr. Ben Goldsmith (University of Sydney). High-level skills in machine learning are essential, but knowledge of conflict analysis is not.

This is a full time fixed term appointment for a period of one (1) year. This position is connected to a three year grant.
